What make and model of router? Why do you want an open network?

Is this related to your other issue?

Quite.  Don't do it, unless you REALLY know what you're doing.

yes its related to my other question.  i talked to my computer teacher in school and he said it seemd like i wasnt really connecting to my network with the wpa.  and i checked this by putting in a random sentence on my laptop when it asked for my wpa key, it still connected with perfect bars and said i was connected.  so my teacher said if i turn off my wpa it should work fine.  i am running a wireless 4 port paradyne modem that we got from our isp.  also i contacted my isp and he said my laptop should still work on a wireless modem.  i still havent gotten this to work :'(
