Title: cd/dvd driver missing?
Post by: tycap77362 on October 13, 2016, 02:44:31 PM
I have purchased an asus laptop with windows 10 already installed. However, it seems no disc, cd or dvd, works. Any disc put in seems to spin for a moment, then it becomes quiet. I have noticed under device manager cd/dvd drive does not appear and My Computer only lists local disc C. There is a pioneer dvd-rw dvrtd11rs under disk drives which says it's working properly. Something else I've noticed is when trying to use vlc player, the disc device has no letter selected and the messages your input cannot be opened and can't open mrl dvd appear. Is there a way to fix this or do I have to download a cd/dvd driver? If so, what's the best way?

Is this a new or used laptop ? ?
CD drives haven't required drivers since Win 98

From the sounds of it the DVD drive is dead and needs to be replaced.

Check the BIOS and make sure that has not been disable there.
