Title: Laptop Turns off randomly?

I have a gateway laptop that someone have gave to me. It was not in any working condition. But, since i fixed it up i have been able to go on it. I'm only 15 by the way. I'm on it right not to. When ever I insert a disk into the disk drive it'll run for about 10 seconds then it will shut off my laptop. Its so annoying because it resets my date and time. Please help.

Honestly, this sounds like your computer is totally messed up but does your computer only turn off after inserting andisc or at any time?
