I'm stumped on trying to remove the read-only attribute on a folder I created on the desktop..
I've gone through the steps to take ownership (as far as I know) with no luck..
Every time I right click on the folder and remove the read-only attribute, it always comes back...
I'm trying to change the contents of the folder from a Windows XP computer on the network, but when I try to change anything it says the disk is write protected and I'm denied access. I assume "write protected" means that the read-only attribute is set and needs to be removed.

check off, "allow network users to change my files" on the sharing tab of the properties dialog for the folder on the PC the folder resides on.

Here's my share tab....I don't see what you mean.
I have tried sharing the folder itself, but I'm still not allowed to change anything in the folder..
The only way I can change the folder contents from another computer is by adding the folder to the PUBLIC folder on the computer it resides on (Vista)

Advanced Sharing...

Already tried it... ;)
I even added the FULL Controll permissions on the "everyone" group that is under "Advanced Sharing"
I guess I can live with it the way it is, changing stuff while in the PUBLIC folder......I'll have to take a closer look at "Permissions" at a later time..
