ive been tryin to read in different areas on the web but i havnt found anything about it.. if i cant do it without the CD, is there a way i can download the CD from the web? certain circumstances prevent me from working at this time so i cant purchase the cd
any help is greatly appreciated

You may have recovery partition.
What is the brand, and model of your computer?
-
its custom built
i can give specs on it if that will help
-
Custom built in 99% cases wont' have recovery partition.
You'll need Windows CD to reinstall.
You may..

Hi – I am about as far from an expert as it possible to be; however, just from my own experience I have one idea to offer: I see you have Kaspersky AV- Security Suite installed on your system. I had this software on my desktop and after weeks of ongoing nightmarish issues and very slow operation, I hired a tech to come in and diagnose the issue. We discovered that Kaspersky has something of a reputation for slowing systems down. I uninstalled and canceled my subscription and went to a different security package and have not had any more issues. This was the only change made to the system, but it seemed to fix the slowness issue. This is just my idea and certainly should not be considered an expert opinion.

There is some infection present.

only problem i seem to having is huge lag on browser only on this pc, i tested the net once again on my wifes laptop, and the net speed is 10x faster than mine. i figured if i did all the scans for malware, spyware and virus scan if i cleared it all out it would make it a bit faster but it seems to not have any effect what so ever, any ideas?

You're asked by evilfantasy this:
Do you use the Ask.com Toolbar? If not then go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall it.
I didn't see any answer to it.
I also would like to know, which browser you use.
Go here: http://www.speedtest.net/, and post the test's numbers.
What type of connection do you use? What's your ISP advertised speed?
Do you use wired, or wireless connection?
After I got your answers, we'll get rid of some unneeded startups.
-
i got rid of ask.com earlier, i use FireFox Mozilla
the isp is Charter, 5MB
me and wife both use Wireless
Speed Test Numbers are:
IP Address:

Last Test Date:
Never
Total Tests Taken:

-
i believe i have the highest one out atm i just updated it last night actually
That's fine.
After posting speed test numbers from Firefox, do very same thing with IE.
-
http://www.speedtest.net/result/403843732.png
if you cant view this
818 KB/s download
36KB/s upload
15 MS Ping
are those the numbers you needed?
-
Yeah. These are ridiculous numbers.
Same with IE?
-
IE = http://www.speedtest.net/result/403848220.png
2860 KB/s Download
491 KB/s upload
15 MS Ping
-
This is much better.
Close Firefox. Go Start>All Programs>Mozilla Firefox, click on Mozilla Firefox (safe mode).
Run speed test again, and post the numbers.
-
safe mode:

Download, and install TCP Optimizer: http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php
Open it, and put a checkmark in Optimal Settings. Click Apply changes button.
Restart computer, and post new Firefox numbers.
-
firefox in safe mode:

internet explorer:
http://www.speedtest.net/result/403865233.png
both of these were lower than last scan :S
-
Next step.
I want you to wire your computer to the router, and run the tests again.
Just to save you some time in waiting for my next reply...
If after wiring, the speed gets better, let me know, and do NOT follow instructions listed below.
If after wiring, the speed is about the same....
Turn off computer. Disconnect router, and modem from power source for 30 seconds.
Power them back on.
Restart computer.
If that doesn't work, bypass router, and connect computer straight to the modem.
If that doesn't work...
Go Start>Run (Start search in Vista), type in:
cmd
Click OK (in Vista, while holding CTRL, and SHIFT, press Enter).
In Command Prompt window, type in following commands, and hit Enter after each one:
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
Restart computer.
If that doesn't work...
Go Start>Run (Start search in Vista), type in:
cmd
Click OK (in Vista, while holding CTRL, and SHIFT, press Enter).
At Command Prompt, type in:
netsh int ip reset reset.log
Hit Enter.
Type in:
netsh winsock reset catalog
Hit Enter.
Restart computer.
If that doesn't work...
Download, install, and run WinSockFix: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Network-Tweak/WinSockFix.shtml
Restart computer, and check again.

did all of these steps, step one made it so i could not connect back to the net on this pc unless i did a repair on the network connection, all others just reset my connection.
im still getting very slow net speeds, almost slower than 56k ... my wifes laptop is running way faster than mine, she wanted to test out her speed on that site, an hers was 4799 kb/s dl over 499 kb/s upload im wondering if its my network card? should i try taking it out an replugging it in to see if that could be the problem?
-
Oh, is it external network card?
Can you try wife's card, if she has any?
Try to reinstall card driver.
-
atm my net runs faster on IE compared to firefox, what i did was i changed the location of my wireless network card i had 2 spots for it, its still a bit laggy but a bit faster than before.
cant use wifes card, hers is a laptop im on pc, i dont think you can switch cards can you? hers is internal i believe
i dont have the cd to reinstall my card driver
-
There is a good chance, you may simply need new card, but before we go there...
i dont have the cd to reinstall my card driver
What computer brand, and model?
-
Gigabyte GN-WP01GS PCI WLAN Card(Turbo) #2
Linksys Wireless if you need anymore info from it, you will have to wait until tomorrow morning so i can use the wifes laptop to use the net with while i remove the card an write down the extra info for you
-
No need.
Here is your driver: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Communication/Driver_DownloadFile.aspx?FileType=Driver&FileID=3912
Uninstall current driver before installing new one.
-
cant download it -.- i get to 3% an net crashes
-
Did you try IE?
-
i started it when i posted last, its downloading @ 400 bytes per second ... lol i downloaded with my laptop in under 1min but wasnt able to transfer the file to my main pc, whenever i sent it would crash the net :S
its been downloading for some time now, its @ 70%
-
finally got the file, seems to be running a lot better now thanks so much :D now i just hope it stays fast haha
anything else i should do to make my net+system run better?
-
I'm glad, things are better :)
What are the speed test results now?
I guess, we did everything, we could, short of replacing network card.
-
my net seems to be really really slow once again lol i rebooted an under my connection its reading this:
36MB/s
Packets Sent: 2045
Packets Received: 382
its no longer even flashing an it took about 30 min just to load this page :S
any idea why?
-
Well, time for a new card, I suppose.
-
idk if this matters at all but i was messing around in my start menu and i found this:
gigabyte wireless network adapters
with 2 inside
GN-WP01GS Soft AP
&
Gigabyte Wireless G-Adapter
i turned off my program that was running, im assuming it was the second one listed, an i turned on GN-WP01GS and i reloaded the speedtest.net here is the results:
483 KB/s Download
373KB/s upload
15MS Ping
i cant even load up the speedtest under the second adapter could it be faulty?
-
gigabyte wireless network adapters
with 2 inside
Where is it from? Device Manager?
-
under device manager theres only the one, this is under start > all programs
-
I won't be able to disect your Program Files. What counts, and what is in use, is listed in Device Manager.
-
not sure why, but i decided to turn off ALL adapters for my connection an just connect with default an it has no lag or anything now ill post the speedtest in a moment im about to do it
-
heres the speedtest results:
http://www.speedtest.net/result/405194526.png
-
i decided to turn off ALL adapters for my connection
What kind of adapters are we talking about here?
-
gigabyte wireless adapters
-
Are you saying, the problem is solved?
-
im not sure but it seems to be runnin a bit better
-
Speed test shows pretty decent speed.
