Title: My computer shuts itself off
Post by: RAN6ER on September 17, 2008, 01:13:24 PM
My computer randomly shuts itself off, i don't get any error messages, all i get is (when i reboot my computer) it tells me that the computer was not properly shut down. I need help. I just built my computer a few days ago and this problem has occurred a few times, twice while running 3D mark 05. So i uninstalled that program, but today it shut it self off with no warning while i was on the internet. i have a EVGA 780i MObo, a Core 2 Quad Q9300, SLI 2 EVGA 9600 GT, a 800 Watt PSU, a 7200rpm HDD, 4 80mm Fans and a heat sink with no CPU fan on it, and i am running Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit. Can anyone help me figure this out?

Sounds like an over heating CPU. Did you check the adhesive that bonds the heatsink/cooling fan? You usually have to loosen the cpu straps and if the heat sink is moving then you should take it off, clean and re-apply some thermal adhesive.

It may be the power, but usually when a power supply goes its gone.
