Title: Windows 2000 RAM
Post by: Mark Jekic on May 04, 2005, 05:39:48 AM
To Computer Hope,
In your Microsoft Windows History you  have made a couple of mistakes concerning RAM. For Windows 2000 Professional your wrote minimum memory is 32MB RAM. This is not true, Windows 2000 Professional requires minimum 64MB RAM and recommends 128MB RAM or higher. Check the box.
From Mark, please reply.

Mark:

True; the minimum *recommended* requirements for RAM to install Windows 2000 is 64 MB.  However, the minimum required to install is 32 MB.

This is from the Windows 2000 Resource Kit:

Table 4.2 Windows 2000 Hardware Requirements...

Intel Pentium or compatible 133 MHz or higher processor; Intel Pentium II or compatible 300 MHz or higher processor recommended.

32 MB of RAM; 64 MB (4 GB maximum) recommended.

2-GB hard disk with 650 MB free disk space (additional disk is required if installing over the network); 2 GB of free space recommended.

VGA-compatible or higher monitor; SVGA Plug and Play Monitor recommended.

Keyboard, mouse or other pointing device.

CD-ROM or DVD drive (required for compact disc installation); CD-ROM or DVD drive 12x or faster recommended.

Network adapter (required for network installation).
