Title: Harware/Software Problem
Post by: Shane001 on February 03, 2009, 05:04:16 AM
Hi All,

My computer operates fine in Windows XP. Once I shut-down, the power light stays "on".

When I start the computer up again, it displays the initial bios and hardware information, but then the screen remains blank for a long period and gives me several Operating Systems messages like "Operating System Not Found", or "Press CTRL+ALT+DEL etc...

I removed the hard drive, placed it into another computer, ran both scandisk and defrag and placed it back into my computer. This fixed the problem!!! The computer started up normally again...

My dilemma, I cannot remove and scan the hard drive each and every time!?! Something is causing this problem, and I hope you'd be able to assist.

Shane

Indeed, chkdsk /r did not resolve the problem. I initially thought the hard drive was damaged, so I replaced it with a new hard drive, which does exactly the same...
