I want to put some zip files onto cd's, but I get a message saying the files may be in use, or write protected. But neither is the case, and I don't know what to do to fix the problem.
Windows 98. 56k modem, if that info is needed.
Do you need any other info about my comp? I'm not on it right now, as I have no internet, so I can't easily get the info, if it's needed.

It's been a while since I used Win98 but I don't think you can copy files to a cd. You will need to burn them to the cd. When do you get this error message? What CD burning program do you use? Check here:

do you have a cd burner? you can't just copy files to a cd if you are not using a cd writer (akla cd burner) and cd-r media. the program you use need to be win 98 compatible and have no problem detecting your cd writer with no problem.
or other option you can do is buy yourself a new cd writer , there are ones out there for around $25, if you are willing to spend a bit of money.
