Hi Dilbert,
I reconfigured my Firefox browser as per your instructions in FAQ on reducing memory usage. I have two Firefox windows open (both for the CH website). My task manager says that Firefox is currently using 94k for memory. That seems pretty high compared to the 7k you gave as an example once I reconfigured. (e-machine , XP)
Thanks,
Mark

Not sure I understand your post. You telling Dilbert you are not happy with the reconfig, with a little sarcasm thrown in.

Yikes, sarcasm. No not at all. ??? Not sure how you got that interpretation.
I was just truly confused as to why my Firefox was using so much memory. Especially after Dilbert's reconfiguration showed such a dramatic decrease in memory usage.
For example, according to my task manager, I have only one application running right now. My Firefox browser. I have one window open. This one. Yet my task manager says that firefox.exe is using 127,000k in memory. Hopefully, you can see how a rookie would be confused.
No, no, I am very grateful for any and all help.
Thank you, thank you,
Mark

my task manager says that firefox.exe is using 127,000k in memory
...and what's the big deal about it?
Mine is using 193,000k at this moment, but yet, when I look at CPU column (which matters), it shows 0-2%. I see no issue here.

Yikes, sarcasm. No not at all. Sorry I misinterpreted. The info Broni posted should ease your mind. Good Luck. ;D

Ok guys. Thanks. I am just trying to sort through things at the moment. I'll read up on the topic and try not to bother you guys with trivial questions again. Sorry. For some reason I thought that I had done something incorrectly because I did not seem to get the same results as Dilbert did. That's all. If it not something to worry about, that's a good thing, and I'll move on.

I tried this thing as well and it reduced my memory usage a bit. The more tabs/windows you have open, the more memory it will use up.

It's possible the results in that FAQ were for an older version...
At any rate it's still a performance tweak that works.

...and pretty soon, they're gonna have final version of FF3, which corrects memory usage problem.
