Title: ink refill cart
Post by: John H on April 10, 2009, 04:16:47 AM
My freind has a lexmark printer. When he got ink carts refilled it wouldn't recognize that it was refilled and wouldn't allow him to print. Is there any way to bypass that?  Thanks for you're help.

What's the cart number?  Some carts are not refillable.

What's this have to do with this thread?

Anyway...

HP printers should have a program installed called an HP Toolbox, if I remember correctly.

Here you can specify the cartridges were replaced if you have re-filled them and then clean the print heads and print out a test page.  I'm not sure of the actual process, but you should be able to do it from within that program.

Did I miss something here?

To be honest, John, refilling cartridges isn't worth the trouble or risk. Too many times have I seen them not work or leak, causing damage to the printer and a fine mess. It's really best to stick to new cartridges, whether original Lexmark cartridges or generic but compatible ones. I know it's probably not the answer you're looking for, but it's the best option.

Ohh and to answer your question.. sometimes theres a button on the printer you need to press to tell it you got more ink.  Like you have to do when you get more paper

Sorry, I referred to HP...

Just check my signature and that will explain everything.

Anyway...the same may apply to a Lexmark printer.  There may be a program that resets the cartridges.

I don't think I've ever seen a "installed ink" button...

On my printer you need to hit a button after you installed ink and paper or something like that.
