Title: asian languages won't install
Post by: gerryroe on January 22, 2005, 12:54:05 PM
My son emailed from college that he can't get east asian languages to install on his XP laptop. I'ts a very simple procedure, but when he clicks on OK, nothing happens. I tried it on my XP desktop and it works fine, the files start installing right away. Then I tried it on my daughter's XP laptop and encountered the same problem my son has. There's no error message, but no file transfer either. Nothing happens. At Microsoft, they just repeat the simple procedure for installing them, nothing about what happens if they don't. Any suggestions? Thanks.

You may need to have support for two-byte characters installed before installing Asian languages. Search for this, my Win98SE system did fine accepting Japanese characters...
