Kingston has introduced world's first 128GB USB drive. This 128GB drive joins Kingston's DataTraveler 200 series drives with 32GB and 64GB capacity. Kingston will be offering new DataTraveler 200 USB drives at $120 for 32GB, $213 for 64GB and whopping $546 for 128GB. Now seriously, one can buy a standard netbook for the price of 128GB USB drive.
Kingston's new DT200 USB drives features Password Traveler, a password protection feature for protecting critical data inside. The capless design features slide-in feature to protect the USB connector.
All new 32GB, 64GB and 128GB DT200 USB flash drives are certified for Windows Vista and enhanced for Windows ReadyBoost feature. Windows ReadyBoost is available in Windows Vista and Windows 7 to use any USB flash drive as a drive for system disk cache to improve the performance. However, it should be noted that Password Traveler won't operate properly if Windows ReadyBoost feature is in use.
Another company called EdgeTech has also come out with cheaper DiskGO 128GB USB flash drive for $390.

HOW!!!!??!!!! How did they fit so much space into so little!!?!!!?!!?! It would make more since to buy a kit external hdd kit and put solid state hdds in it instead
-
They must have had a LOT of gift certificates.....
-
They must have had a LOT of gift certificates.....
Very nice, K... ;D
I tried to find an article which better explains how they're physically built, but work keeps intruding.
It's not a bold prediction to expect a terabyte flash drive in a few years.
-
Very cool. Although I'd never recommend someone buying these for another few months, since new storage goes down so fast in price.
-
..... just bought 2. they're pretty cool.
-
??? :o :o :o
-
What's so strange?
People use their GIFT CERTIFICATES wisely ;D
-
Gift certificates or not I think I will find a nice cheap one on ebay and save myself the hassle of an external hdd.
HOWEVER!!!!...
Haven't we all forgoton to double check our pockets before we wash our clothes at least once? I've lost quite a few things for that, including a couple usb drives, a cell phone, and thousands of pencils and pens!
So I think I will stay with an external hdd. Because how often do you throw that in the wash?
-
Thanks for that cause you reminded me I have $5 in my pocket ;D
-
hah no problem. I have my cell phone, my wallet, van keys ;D, and the spark plug to my van ;D. It keeps my brother from driving it, ya know?
-
hahahahhahaha
-
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm he ain't gettin' in ta noo van o' myne!
lol
-
and the spark plug to my van
It's not the only spark plug for your van is it?
There must be an easier way, like a club?
I don't mean for the steering wheel, just threaten him.... :)
-
OH I tried, but he threatened to crash the van. So I thought taking parts out would be easier ;D
-
You do know that the coil wire just unplugs right?
-
awe shut up! whats done is done!
haha
-
Come on, confess, you didn't really pull a spark plug did you?
-
I was just kidding..... I didn't really get two. :P
I most likely will be needing to upgrade my 16gb flash drive to 32gb in the next couple months though. I tend to kill flash drives after about a year. If a external harddrive could fit in my pocket and handle being thrown around, I might consider one of those to get away from the limited writes available to flash drives.
-
I did really pull it out. MY van is my life 8)
-
Aren't the flash drives supposed to support something like 30K transactions?
Granted, I had a Lexar quit after a year, but I have an Imation from the same time period which is still going.
-
I use my flash drive very heavily. hmmmm, I wonder if there is a utility that can track the amount of data transferred to a drive over time..... It would be interesting to see how much data I put on my flash drive during a month or year. I bet it's several hundred times over the storage capacity.

For the future try the coil wire, it's a lot easier. You would have one *censored* of a repair bill if you broke off a spark plug in the block. Plus spark plugs don't really like having the gap adjusted a lot. The metal fatigues from the intense heat.
-
A month ago i had a flash drive in my jeans go through the washing machine....
Figuring all was lost and nothing to lose i decided to let it go a full dryer cycle as well....
Still using it today...
;)
-
i decided to let it go a full dryer cycle as well....
So, you're stating that heat was your diagnostic / correction tool?? ;D
(...and the ban becomes more justifiable every day! ;))
-
;)
-
To think just a few years ago,I bought the brand new 4GB USB drive.
HOW!!!!??!!!! How did they fit so much space into so little!!?!!!?!!?! It would make more since to buy a kit external hdd kit and put solid state hdds in it instead
Just wait 'till Phase-Change memory comes out.
-
The Wealthy will buy It, I will buy some when I hit the lottery!,lol.
-
Eh...Pretty fancy 8)
Wonder if there using the FRAM chips on these, to store that much data probably would need a more reliable ROM technology(plus the added benefit of longer lifespan)
-
you can't rewrite data on ROM, silly.
-
I know that, its just this:
Flash, EEPROM, EPROM are based upon the old ROM technology.
Except these three can be re-written to, Flash and EEPROM(Electrically Eraseable Program Read Only Mem) can be re-written electronically while EPROM can be re-written after a UV Format.
FRAM is just a new kind a ROM type, its basically Non-volitle RAM, that has unlimited Read/Write times, that is faster than Flash.

-
It's not technically a ROM if you can Write to it.

Sounds like SRAM.
-
Seems to be so, from the Name(Ferroelectric)
It seems to be that they're using a different chemical compound for the chips.
-
this was most useful...
i ask some to you...
when plugged the your usb it automatically scan themself?
what is the rate for?
