Title: Ebay crashes when using IE
Post by: micromos on April 24, 2013, 05:48:44 PM
I'm sure some of you wizards have run into this problem of late.  When I am signed into eBay and I click on "Active" under the left side panel of "Sell" eBay crashes to my desktop.  It also does this sometimes when I click on "Active" from the top under "My eBay".  It just started doing this about 2 weeks ago.   When running Google Chrome I don't have this issue.  I like the regular Google.  Can anyone solve this problem?  Thanks, Micromos  :P

What version of IE are you using?  The latest version is 10. I recommend getting version 10 if you do not have it yet.

Have you cleared your browser history in IE since this problem started? Have you changed any settings in IE?

When running Google Chrome I don't have this issue.
So, at least, you can access your eBay account.

I like the regular Google.
That makes no sense.  Google is a website which can be accessed with any web browser.

I am using IE 7.  I have my settings to automatically delete my browsing history.  I haven't change any settings.  There is a difference in Google.  One is Google Chrome (red, yellow & green circle icon) and the other non- Google chrome (Blue e icon).  Would using the restore feature clear this up? How is IE 10 different from IE 7.

Not to go off track but what protection apps do you have and when's the last time you updated and ran them ? ?

I am using IE 7.
You posted your topic in the Windows Vista and 7 section. But, apparently, you are using Windows XP.  Is that right?  IE8 is the latest version of IE for Windows XP.  I suggest you get it; you can get it at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=43.  Later versions of browsers generally provide more secure web browsing, meaning less vulnerability to malware that can be picked up from web browsing.

There is a difference in Google.  One is Google Chrome (red, yellow & green circle icon) and the other non- Google chrome (Blue e icon).
I see you still don't know the difference between a web browser and a website.  Chrome (red, yellow & green circle icon) is Google's web browser.  The program represented by the Blue e icon is Internet Explorer, Microsoft's web browser; it is not a "non- Google chrome", whatever that means.

All my windows updates are set for automatic.
Then, why do you still have IE7?  I believe your IE would have been updated to version 8 via Windows Updates if you have updates set for automatic.

I just updated my profile to reflect IE7.  Didn't know it was outdated.  I use IE mostly.  I don't like Google Chrome but use it intermittently. Google Chrome was suggested by the Geek Squad so I use it once in a while.  My issue only happens when I am using IE7.  What advantage would I have by updating to IE10?  And, how do I upgrade?  I'm asking because I am a beginner and older than dirt and therefore do not understand some computer jargon.  Thx.

Again:

Oh, you updated your forum profile?  To reflect Windows 7, not IE 7, right?  ::)

Right!

Well now, let's see.   You say you have Windows 7 and IE7.  That's not possible because IE8 was the version of IE that came with Windows 7 when Windows 7 was first released to the market.  So, we still don't have the facts straight here.  ::)

So, apparently you do not know how to tell what version of IE you have.  Why did you say IE7?

Maybe you can tell me how to check the computer and find out which version I have. It should be listed somewhere right?  :)

Any thoughts on the original question? Thx.

None, other than use Chrome since you don't have the ebay problem when using it.  You can have IE and Chrome open at the same time if you like, and just use Chrome for eBay if you generally prefer using IE.
