I am having trouble with my daughter's computer always saying that IE has encountered a problem and must shut down. I have tried to install IE 8 on her computer, but I get a message saying that it can't uninstall the version currently on the computer. I have even tried to go into safe mode and delete it from the Program Files, but it keeps telling me that some of the dll files can't be deleted.

You can't uninstall IE.
Try Firefox.

What version was on the computer before you tried installing IE 8? What SP (Service Pack) do you have installed in Windows XP?

You basically can't uninstall IE.

But, if you update IE from an older version to a later version, you can usually uninstall that later version, which takes you back to the earlier version.
