-

-

but the only icons/options I saw on Settings are the ff:
Display: (Default Monitor) on VGA
Colors:
Screen Area: (the only option with slider)
....the toolbar u've shown was not found on my Display Settings!
-
How old is your computer? What OS? Was your resolution always that way, or something changed?
-
Windows 2000!...I juz remebered after our IT asst installed something on my computer, the resolution changed...
-
Go Start>Run
Type in:
devmgmt.msc
It'll bring you to Device Manager
Click "+" sign next to Display Adapters, and it'll show what kind of graphic card\chip you have
Post the name back here, and we'll try to find a new driver for you, if it exist.
-
I already opened it but wer's display adapter here?!....
...here are the options...
COMPUTER
DISK DRIVES
DVD/CD-ROM DRIVE

PORTS (COM & LPT)
SOUND, VIDEO AND GAME CONTROLLERS
SYSTEM DEVICES
USB CONTROLLERS
...Which one?!
-
Normally, you would have Display Adapters folder, but I can see, it's missing.
I suspect, that tech guy did something wrong, and now your video driver is missing.
I can see under your Other Devices, "VGA Controller".
Does it have a question, or exclamation mark next to it?
-
Yeah, it has!...so wat shud be done with it?!
tnx broni
-
Do you still have the disc that came with your pc ( motherboard)? The driver of course :)
Just do the installation
-
our tech asst have it!...
I always bug him for this s*** resolution but he's always bz on server!...
any alternatives?!...I cant stand workin with this kind of computer....
-
Go back to Device Manager.
Right click on VGA Controller, click Properties, click Driver tab, click on Update Driver button.
Upgrade Wizard will appear, click Next.
Make sure there is a checkmark next to "Search for suitable driver for my device". Click Next.
On next screen, make sure there is NO checkmark in any of displayed options, and click Next.
Windows will search for your driver, and it may find it. If it does, accept it, and Windows will install it.
If no driver is found, we'll have to find it for you, but it's a next step.
-
no driver has found!...
i guess i was meant to work with this s*** computer!
-
Don't worry. It was just first step, and Win 2K often fail to find correct driver, or maybe that tech guy lost it somewhere.
Now, you have to download, and install "Everest", from here:http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,23043-order,1-page,1-c,alldownloads/description.html (http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,23043-order,1-page,1-c,alldownloads/description.html)
After installing, run it.
In left pane click "+" sign next to Computer, then click on "Summary".
In right pane, you'll see two columns: "Field", and "Value". Some entries in "Value" column will be displayed in black, some in blue. Blue entries will provide more information, when clicked on them.
I'd like you to post "Values" for following lines:
-under Motherboard:
* CPU Type
* Motherboard Name
* Motherboard Chipset
-under Display:
*Video Adapter
*3D Accelerator (may be not listed)
Please, also tell me which of those 5 "Values" are displayed in BLUE.
We'll go from here.
-
:'(No driver is found!...
-
Huh? Did you follow my instructions from my last post about installing Everest?
-
Sorry mr. Broni I havent seen ur last post!... ;D
i
-
Let me know... :)
-
Got it mr. Broni.
CPU type: Intel Pentium4, 2400 MHz (18x133)
Mother board name: Epox Ep-P4MKI-P(3 PCI, 1AG, 2DDR DIMM, Audio, Video, LAN)
Mother Board Chipset: VIA VT875IA Apollo P4M266A
Video Adapter: S3 Prosavage DDR (86c420)
D Accelerator: S3 Prosavage DDR (86c420)
Note: All values were displayed in blue!...although on my screen they are green ;D
-
Great info...Thank you :)
You'll find your driver here: http://www.softwarepatch.com/utilities/s3proddr.html (http://www.softwarepatch.com/utilities/s3proddr.html)
Download above file (S3G_ProSavageDDR_winxp_v139433.exe), and double click on it. It'll install your video driver in known to Windows location.
When it's done,
Go back to Device Manager.
Right click on VGA Controller (under Other Devices), click Properties, click Driver tab, click on Update Driver button.
Upgrade Wizard will appear, click Next.
Make sure there is a checkmark next to "Search for suitable driver for my device". Click Next.
On next screen, make sure there is NO checkmark in any of displayed options, and click Next.
Windows will search for your driver, and it should find it. If it does, accept it, and Windows will install it.
That should do it.
Let me know.
-
:)Amazing!....
I owe u alot Mr. Broni...
it was the best resolution I ever had...
tnnnnnnnxxxxx a lot Mr. Broni!... :D
-
If you are happy ;D I'm happy ;D
BTW...
I've noticed, that under "Other Devices", you have three other entries:
....ETHERNET CONTROLLER
....MULTIMEDIA AUDIO CONTROLLER
....USB CONTROLLER
Do they also have exclamation/question marks.
Is your sound OK, for instance?
-
yes they do have!...
but i dont have speakers here so i dont know if they are ok or not!...
wat will i gonna with those?
tnx agen
-
Eventually those entries should be fixed, too. I think the best way would be, if you open Everest one more time.
You'll see "Report" button at the top.
Click on it. Report Wizard will open.
Click Next.
Put checkmark next to "All pages".
Click Next.
Put checkmark next to "HTML".
Click Next.
It'll generate report about your computer (it may take couple of minutes).
When it's done, click on "Save to File". Save it to some known location, and email it to me (I'll PM you with my email address).
It's almost time to bed here, so I'll take a look at it tomorrow.
-
Ive just sent it to ur e-mail! ;D
-
I got it. Thank you :)
-

I replied in your original thread.
-
girlnxtdoor...
Now, we'll try to solve your audio driver problem...in case you'll get yourself a set of nice speakers, to listen to some nice music, while surfing internet.... :D
Whole procedure will be very similar like with your video driver.
Your Audio Adapter is: Realtek ALC655 @ VIA AC'97 Enhanced Audio Controller
You can download your audio driver is located here:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=6&PFid=6&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false (http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=6&PFid=6&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false)
Download highlighted item:
It comes as ".zip" file, so double click on it to unzip it (I assume, you have some unzipping program installed on your computer).
Now go back to Device Manager, but this time right click on MULTIMEDIA AUDIO CONTROLLER under "Other Devices", then Properties, and perform exactly same steps as with updating video driver.
After installation is completed, MULTIMEDIA AUDIO CONTROLLER entry in Device Manager should disappear, an you should have Realtek ALC655 @ VIA AC'97 Enhanced Audio Controller listed under "Sound, video, and game controllers".
Good luck :)
-
Unfortunately Mr. Broni I dont have unzip program installed on my computer!
-
Unzipping program is a must, so get free "7-zip" from here: http://www.7-zip.org/ (http://www.7-zip.org/)
Download highlighted file:
After installing "7-zip", your downloaded audio driver zipped file will unzip (uncompress) when double clicked on it.
-
Mr. Broni I cant open the link!...
i thrice tried it but it has always error in page!
-
It opens for me....hmmmm....
Try here: http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/7-Zip-Download-5598.html (http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/7-Zip-Download-5598.html)
Download "External Mirror 3 - Stable 32 bits"
-
i already downloaded the unzip file, wats nxt mr. broni?
-
done with audio driver download but wen i double clicked it a pop up "OPEN WITH" menu box appeared!...wat will I gonna do with this mr. broni
-
If you installed "7-zip", in that "Open with" dialog box find "7-zip", click on it to highlight it, put a checkmark in "Always use the selected program to open this type of file", and click OK. Your driver file should unzip.
From now on, every ".zip" file will open with "7-zip".
-
Hmmmn, mr. Broni I found it more tough than my resolution!...I already downloaded the two and follow same instructions with video drive but nothing happens...i think gotta start from the top agen... :(
-
Did Driver Wizard said, it found a proper driver?
-
Unable to locate the driver!... :(
-
It happens...Driver Wizard, despite his name is not always that smart...LOL
Let me ask you this.
When you unzipped downloaded audio driver, what is unzipped files location? There should be two folders:
- 2K
- 98Me
Where are those two folders located in your computer, and please post the names of files in folder "2K'.
You should have 3 files there.
-
Sory Mr. Broni, i havent noticed those options, ill repeat the process!...kinda tough job...wheeew
-
Take your time.
When you are downloading, always remember where your download goes.
