Title: WindowsWcpOtherFailure3 how can this be corrected?
Post by: milspouse on September 04, 2009, 08:35:14 AM
My computer has over a 100 reports sent to Windows to fix this and no response. Our hp runs on Windows Vista Home Premium Edition(x32) Svc Pk1, Physical memory 3.00GB, System Board Chipset nVidia MCP61, AMD Phenom(tm)9500 Quad-Core Processor, 4cores, 4 threads and current speed 2.21GHz, memory size 512MB, systems directory: windows\system32. Is there any other info that is needed? My system has been crashing often and when I look up problem report I see this error the most? Again over 100 WindowsWcpOther Failure3. In regards to antiviurse I run AVG. Thanks for any help :)

They won't reply. They just collect information from you.

What is WindowsWcpOther Failure3? Where do you see it?

My system will crash or go blue screen and when Igo to check the problems reports and solutions that is where this is coming up. So it explains to me why my system keeps freezzng or crashing, but then again I'm not sure about tht the last error i got on the plus screen was PFN_list_Corrupt. So I am confuse and dont know what to do in order to gt this corrected. ???

Go to Control Panel/System /Advanced/Performance...
Uncheck "auto restart on errors"

Now you will get a BSOD on errors...post all the info including the gibberesh.

...or...

Download BlueScreenView (http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html)
No installation required.
Double click on BlueScreenView.exe file to run the program.
When scanning is done, go Edit>Select All.
Go File>Save Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt.
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all content, and paste it into your next reply.

I see two options, AVG, or RAM.

Uninstall AVG, using AVG Remover: http://www.avg.com/download-tools

Switch to one of these:

- Avira free antivirus: http://www.free-av.com/en/download/1/avira_antivir_personal__free_antivirus.html
- Avast! free antivirus: http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

- free Comodo Internet Security (firewall + AV): http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/
NOTE. During installation, Comodo will also allow you to install AV only, or firewall only, if you prefer to combine one Comodo product with some other product.

If you decide to install Avast, or Avira, make sure, Windows firewall is turned on, or use Comodo firewall..
If you decide to install Comodo Internet Security, or just Comodo firewall, make sure, Windows firewall is turned off.

IMPORTANT! Make sure, you use only ONE antivirus, and ONE firewall.

================================================================

If the above doesn't help...

A. If you have more than one RAM module installed, try starting computer with one RAM stick at a time.

NOTE Keep in mind, the manual check listed above is always superior to the software check, listed below. DO NOT proceed with memtest, if you can go with option A

B. If you have only one RAM stick installed...
...run memtest...

1. Download - Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip) (http://www.memtest.org/download/2.11/memtest86+-2.11.iso.zip)
2. Unzip downloaded memtest86+-2.11.iso.zip file.
3. Inside, you'll find memtest86+-2.11.iso file.
4. Download, and install ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/
5. Insert blank CD into your CD drive.
6. Open ImgBurn, and click on Write image file to disc
7. Click on Browse for a file... icon:

8. Locate memtest86+-2.11.iso file, and click Open button.
9. Click on ImgBurn green arrow to start burning bootable memtest86 CD:

10. Once the CD is created, boot from it, and memtest will automatically start to run.

The running program will look something like this depending on the size and number of ram modules installed:

It's recommended to run 5-6 passes. Each pass contains very same 8 tests.

This will show the progress of the test. It can take a while. Be patient, or leave it running overnight.

The following image is the test results area:

The most important item here is the “errors” line. If you see ANY errors, even one, most likely, you have bad RAM.

You need to start your own topic.
