I currently have a tower, laptop, and Ipod touch. I want to network them all together but currently connect to the internet using a 3G dongle (phone modem?). This is connected to either the tower or the laptop via USB but not both at the same time. I assume the IPOD Touch will have to be connected via WIFI. The laptop and tower have both LAN and WIFI ability.
I assume I need to somehow make an internet access point do haven't a clue!!

By the way using XP pro SP3

You need a wireless router

Thanks reddevigg. Got 1 of those - so how do i set up the network please
-
You also need an ISP
-
so there is no way to use my ipod touch to connect to the internet even with a laptop and phone modem connected to the internet ??
-
How do you connect to the internet? Cable or DSL modem? How is your router connected?
-
either with laptop or desktop using a dongle from a mobile phone company called 3 in the uk. the dongle has a built in phone number so I assume it acts as a mobile telephone modem
-
Either get a phone line and an ISP OR get a dongle for each appliance (which i guess will be expensive)

When you get a (made by) Huawei 3G dongle from the UK mobile phone company "3" you get (1) a 3g (cellphone network) modem (the "dongle") (2) an ISP service with them which you access via the dongle. This is standard with 3G services from mobile phone companies. You can plug the dongle into a router and share the connection the same way you would share a connection through a DSL modem or a fibre cable modem or whatever. 3 (The company) actually supply a router, the Huawei D100, designed to be used with the mobile modem. 19BigAl49, I think you should just you should call 3 and get them to talk you through what you need to do.
