Title: WINDOWS Secutity Issues
Post by: Ladynat999 on October 23, 2010, 06:15:09 AM
I have Sims 3 installed on my laptop - played it with no problems for years (complete with custom content) but when I went to play it today, I got an error msg saying that 'these files could not be opened - Your internet Security settings prevented one or more files from being opened'
I have tried changing the internet security settings to low (all of them) but no change.
I also tried installing Antivir antivirus and got the same msg (and it wouldnt complete installation).

agghh

Don't know if this is related to my Error code: 0xFFFFFFFE

I am running Windows 7 64bit and have Virgin Media Security - my laptop has been fine untill 2 days ago with the same settings.

Well, I have found the problem!

The latest Definitions update for Windows Defender - KB915597 (definition 1.93.284.0)!!!

I have restored my system to before this update and the problem is solved.
I think it is disgusting that Microsoft have released an update that knackers up your system. BOO MICROSOFT!!!

BTW, thanks very much for your help!!!

Personally, I think Windows Defender is a waste of resources. I disable it on all systems with which I'm involved.
