Title: CD-R blank disc not recognized by CD-ROM drive
Post by: Thomas_J on February 07, 2006, 03:28:31 PM
I have a T-30 IBM Think Pad: 256MB 18.63 GB, OS: MS 2000 Pro, GenuineIntel Family 6 Model 8 896. Problem: Matshita DVD-Rom SR-8175, which is the D Drive, suddenly does not recognize a blank CD-R disc. Text box says "Please insert a disc." It will recognize and play audio discs and other cd-rom discs that already have data stored on them. Won't play DVD video

Which operating system are you using? When did this start? Have you made any changes to your system recently?

MS 2000 Pro. I don't recall if there were any changes or upgrades that would have affected this.

Flame--I use MS 2000 Pro. I don't recall any changes that should have caused a problem but it is always possible.

I have only just started using my laptop again recently. I don't recall if I have ever tried to burn as disc since I got the computer. I was mostly using my desktop before. I just tried a DVD in it to see if that works and it did not want to paly it. So there is something a bit off here. Any ideas?

Burning CDs will be impossible on this computer seeing as you are using a DVD-ROM drive. You will need some kind of RW drive to burn CDs.
