Even though I haven't personally used Vista, I have heard it isn't much good. I currently have XP Home, Should I stay with XP Home or get XP Professional?
So, Which is best (note: I'm into programming, and use high powered programs) Vista, XP Home or XP Professional? Which it best out of the 3? Which is best out of XP Home & Pro?
I am just asking for opinions as I haven't used vista and have only used XP Pro, once for about 2 hours, LOL.

If I was you I would wait until there is a SP2 of Vista before I would buy Vista.
We have 4 computers at home and one with Windows Vista home premium.
And the only-one that isn't able to print from a shared printer is the Vista PC.
Maybe it is because of me. :-\ But when I ask help on this forum no-one seems to have the answer.
Sow my opinion Just stay with XP till Vista SP2 arrives.

XP Home or XP Professional?
-
If you have them both I would suggest XP professional but the difference is to small to buy XP prof when you have XP home.

Thanks, i also forgot to mention that this is for a new laptop, so i guess i will buy it with XP Professional.
-
Oh, I thought you said you had XP home.
Now your telling you need to buy it in that way I would wait for a better answer from Raptor or CBMatt.
But its your call.
Of what I'm speaking is my own experience.

I do have XP Home but im buying a new laptop
-
Oh sorry for the misunderstanding.
What I was trying to say is that maybe Vista business or an other Vista is a better call then XP.
But I do not have any experience with those sow that's why I should wait for someone else reply.

The spelling mistakes hurt my IQ.
I'm a keen believer in holding off until at least SP2 arrives, but if you're buying from new, might as well get Vista, and then up-date for free, as opposed to buying Vista later...The more expensive outcome.
That is, if you don't mind waiting for bugs to be fixed with an SP2...

Yes but if you need the things that are not yet ready you have a problem. (there are not much problems but Networking is one of them.)
You also do have to remember that a perfect OS is IMPOSSIBLE.
And the spelling is because I'm not on my own PC.
At my own PC I have Google toolbar who corrects my faults.
But now you can see how bad I actually am.

I'll give one of my secrets away: Firefox has a built in spell-checker.
And if someone has a problem with you d/l Firefox, they are an idiot.

The PC I'm using now is my mothers PC and it barely run with only IE 6 open.
Sow If I install something else it will not work at all. :P
You know what I mean.

OMG you guys are actually saying Vista is better than XP!!!!! :o :o :o
Hey Jjbtcp, what are you going to use Vista for? If you are going to play games, Vista isn't the best choice.
Also, your printer might not work on Vista or most of your programs wont work.
I would advise you to wait for SP2 or just get an XP now.
-
Thats what I was trying to tell whole the time.
Thaks for your reply.

I think I'm also right when I'm saying that XP prof is the best choise isn't it CD?
I do want to say that Counterstrike Source works fine on Vista.
But there are a bounche of game that doesn't.
Jonas ;)

There is Halo 2 for vista
-
Yes but the stupit thing about thatone is that its ONLY for Vista.
I still don't know why they did that.

My point is more:
Why have a new machine with XP, and then pay to upgrade to Vista apres SP2 (or whatever they end up calling it)?
If it were a simple upgrade, I'd hold fire, but if you're getting it free, might as well have the newer one...unless you specifically need the older one.

This is a rambling mess of a thread. Jonas, I don't understand your need to answer every thread on the board and then end your response with "but I don't know". If you don't know, don't type anything. Just read. ::)
-
Yes but I always have something to add.
But I'm never very sure of the things I say I don't want to have that someones PC crashes because I said that I was sure.
I'm saying that so someone with more knowledge can confirm my info.

No information is better than bad information. Think about it.
