Please can anyone help.
My computer crashed before and when I have switched it on again and gone on to internet my address toolbar has changed. The address bar has shifted to the right hand side of the toolbar and on the left where it should be there is a Search the Web bar which I never use. Whatever I try to do to try to customise this so I can remove this stupid bar just won't work. I am used to my address bar being on the left and I just can't get it there.
Any help would be appreciated.
cheers

1. Use the System File Checker tool to scan all of the protected files on your computer: a. Click Start, and then click Run.
b. In the Open box, type sfc /scannow, and then click OK.
Note that you may be prompted for the Windows XP or Windows XP Service Pack 1 installation media
msoftfix.......providing that this> winxp with ie 6......use your virus/spyware programs, and rescan the system.....with system restore disable/and not net connected......

deborah..... What operating system are you using ?
Can you remember what caused your computer to crash ?

Hi there
The following have ticks by them:
Standard Buttons
Address
Lock Toolbars
Google
Links and Customise don't have ticks by them
Does this help?
-
Does this search bar come with Internet Explorer or has it been added later on?
-
deborah....... Have you tried removing the tick in front of "lock toolbars" then dragging the address box back over to the left .......where it was and then lock the toolbars again ?
BTW ....the search bar that you dont use ...is it the Google search bar ? ...if so just go up to view and select toolbars and remove the tick in front of google .

Raptor - I have never seen this search button before so I cannot answer your question.
DL65 - yes I have tried that and I have tried customising the toolbar bur you can only customise the one with icons on it.
I've got a screen dump picture of the offending item but don't know how to send it to you guys
Cheers

Have you scanned for Viruses, Trojan Horses and Spyware?
What does this search bar look like? Is it perhaps called Cool Web Search or something similiar?
-
deborah......I didnt want you to use the customize button ...just unlock the toolbar and drag your address box over to the left ........ Are you able to get it back to the left ?

I have tried unlocking the toolbars, no joy at all.
A description of the item is
Search the web then box to type in
search button with magnifying glass and drop down menu which says:
Full Search
Quote
Find Stock Symbol
White Pages
Yellow Pages
Map of Zip Code
Weather of Town or Zip
Movie Times by Town or Zip
I'm totally baffled by this
