Post by: anjeepsolution on March 19, 2009, 03:06:26 AM
Hello Sir,

    I saved some files from other office in word 2007 edition in my pendrive . But I am always using word 2003 edition. So now I want to open my files. But I am not able to open it. I tried to open it by doing save as and saving (save as type: 97,2003  ….) but still I am not able to open it. So please give me solution . How I will be able to open in any pc in which 2003 edition is installed. In my pc xp professional is installed which i am always using.

Waiting for your earliest reply.

Regards,

   Just use the 'save as' command when when running Office 2007;
and choose 'Office 97-2003' format (*.doc)

Your commets are a bit confusing and some clarification would help.  As Archer stated, Word 2007 gives you the option to Save As an earlier version of Word.  So, that's a way to convert those Word 2007 files to a .doc file that can be opened in Word 2003 or Word XP.

Word 2007 users can set Word to use an earlier file format, i.e. .doc, as the default format instead of the Word 2007 format which is .docx.  This would be the best thing to do where files from different versions of Word need to accessible to people using different versions of Word.

Users of Office XP or Office 2003 can also install a Compatibility Pack which will allow them to open .docx files.  See http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/products/HA101686761033.aspx

This might also be helpful: Use Word 2007 to open documents created in previous versions of Word (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word/HA100444751033.aspx)

I opened by file. By opening the same file in 2007 edition and than doing save as and saving in 2003 format.
Then i was able to open my file in 2003 edition.

Thanks for your good idea which i was not knowing first.

Thank you.
