Does the setting stay at Google or is it changed back the next time you look?
Check your hosts file.

Navigate to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\HOSTS
Right click & select 'open with' and look for a google redirect.

EDIT: Your computer is infected.
We can deal with that later.
That was supposed to be 'open with' notepad.

unlovedwarrior.......  It would appear you have a trojan ....... So make sure that system restore is turned off ....... then......
Please download VundoFix.exe at http://www.atribune.org/downloads/VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files.
After the files are extracted, please reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key  until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.
Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
Please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):

C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddcyx.dll

Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.
When asked for a second path, enter -> C:\WINDOWS\system32\xycdd.
Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.
The fix will run then HijackThis will open.

then mark for removal .....

O20 - Winlogon Notify: ddcyx - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddcyx.dll

click fix checked ........ reset your home page and reboot back into normal and see how things are .

Good for them! You will be better off with a real XP CD for a lot of reasons. What model do you have?

Sadly we never got to the end of the little fact finding mission, not to worry, can you post a fresh HJT log just to be sure you are OK.
