Title: I got sme rebooting Problems :)
Post by: tju2an on August 22, 2009, 03:47:38 PM
Hello, I got a problem with my computer Oftest reboots or Freezes now ant then, I include a detailed list of everything I think you need to know below ;)

Here's my current setup:

Hardware:
Intel LGA 775 Core2Quad Q9400 Non-clocked
2x2Gb RAM kit Corsair Art Nr TW3X4G1333C9DHX
Tagan 800W PSU(with up to 64A output) (Also grounded with the included cable onto a screw on the Mobo)
Asus GTX260 (Running 16 I think)
Asus P5Q3
Cooler Master 932 High Air Flow(Case)
WD 500Gb HDD
Just another Drive, 16x

BIOS:
DRAM Frequency: 1333MHz
Timing: 9-9-9-24
DRAM Voltage: 1.66V

Other Information:
While running Prime95 and a monitorprogram called CPUID, No cores ever have their Temprature over 60Degrees(Celsius)
If might be a cable problem, as it's my first build, something might be wrong, tho it seems to be correct.
During the first formattingprocess of Windows XP on the machine, the Computer froze during the third part of the process(after creating Partitions and after the procedure first aproximated to take 40mins, but usually takes like 10, no idea what it's called)
The machine is running more stable while using 1.66V on DRAM than 1.6, so I am running with 1.66A at the moment.
After a memorytest, the RAM's(as I understood it) was just fine.
THe RAM's is inserted in the Black ports on the Mobo, Called A1 and B1, there's also two orange, A2 and B2, which I havn't tried the stick in yet.

The Problem:
The computer either Reboots or Freezes(Mostly when more than one program is running)

Question:
What could I possibly have done wrong? And how may I Solve it?

Additional Info:
My brother had a similiar problem to mine, mostly when someone stomped the floor or the machine in some way was shaked, although as he got it repaired(he bought it, guarantee used) they said it was a cableproblem and they just changed it, and now it works just fine.
The Jumpers is set to their Default Settings
The Monitor has no drivers installed, and shouldn't need any. Asus VW225N 22"
The Air Circulation in the case is very good, so there's probably nothing overheated( Althought I don't know what the GPU should be as max, it's a bit warmer than I thought)
Reformatting didn't solve the problem
The Reboots oftest comes in games
I got BlueScreen three times, althought it only showed for a second before it dissappered.
Every part in the computer is bought on the same day
All drivers has been reinstalled many times, and Express Gate is also installed

I might have forgot any info that you need to know, but just tell me and I'll tell you

Thanks alot for you wonderful Knowledge!

Regards and many Thanks

Filip

PS: I have read through the entire post with rebooting and casual problems, and I can't run the Memtest, as I got no program to burn and I am not willing to pay for any :)

When was the last time you cleaned out the computer and replaced the thermal paste on the processor?

It's not a Heatproblem, Prime95 has been running for about 10minutes and yet the temperatures on all four cores ain't over 60Degrees Celsius.

i bought every piece new and built it just two weeks ago, and Thermal paste was included on the CPUCooler

I found out that my current OS might have a glitch or a bug in it. I got the CD from a mate who burned it himself, and this is the first time t's used on a comp, although I got another copy which always has worked properly on earlier machines, what do you think?

I think you should buy a retail copy of the OS and not use a pirated version.

I won't until I am sure the problem is the OS

I predict you will continue to have issues then...

You won't get any assistance here for pirated software.

Is your key for the disk a legal one?

Yes, I have three legal CD's bought, but before I use the Keys, I want to make sure that the OS is the problem, within a month I will go for Windows7 RC

What are you saving the legal ones for?  Try one.  That's part of the troubleshooting.

We can not assist with pirated software.  So unless you try one of your legal ones we are at an impasse.

I will loose many of my steps in my troubleshooting by reformatting, so I want to be 100% that the problem is the OS, then I will go over to Windows7. My three legal Keys are for other computerbuilds in the future, and it's Vista, which I won't use on  a gaming rig

Well, we are done here then it seems.

We will not continue to provide troubleshooting with a pirated OS.

Of course he's going to say he's got legal keys - we already told him he's not getting help otherwise.

I've never understood the thought process behind using pirated software.  You never know what's been done to it.  Plus it's impossible to get support for.

And then brag about it! You should see some posts by people (mainly young people) who use pirated stuff - they're defiant ("well, it's too expensive, I can't afford it, and I needed it" or "everyone does it & it's available"). At my forum we shut these threads right down. I recognize we're a little more strict than most other sites, but I won't put up with it.

I agree.  If I can't afford I will wait until I can(this rarely happens).  Nobody 'Needs' software that badly, if they do then there are plenty of FOSS solutions.

Is there any way I can prove that I actually got the keys for you? I have amny computers, but just one which is currently using Pirated software, and that's being solved right now. I am testing Windows7 instead of usin pirate software, and how do you know when I have upgraded to Windows7 or not?

1) One is enough
2) Because I'm not stupid ;)

Anyway, others can do whatever they want in this thread, but I'm done with it. Good luck with your system.

Here's my new plan. Tomorrow I will upgrade to the Windows7 RC x32(86)
It is legal, it was downloadable from Microsoft until the 20th of August, is this isn't solving the problem, do you guys have any idea what the problem could be? :)
