I saw that my AVG detected a virus and it cleaned it and my computer needs to reboot. The virus started with an F but I cant remember the name. Anyway now everytime I try and turn my comp on it tries but just loops booting up once its done with the windows loading screen. I tried booting in safe mod but that did not work. I tried booting from CD with no results. I also reinstalled the Kernel32.dll file that was suggested to me by Microsoft Support.
Is reformating the only option?

You could try reinstalling Windows without formatting. The others might be able to suggest some kind of boot-time virus scanner, maybe?

http://www.ubcd4win.com/
Ultimate Boot CD for Windows, this includes a virus scanner along with numerous other useful tools.
Might be of use.

Trying the UBCD thanks I hope it works ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
No problem, fingers crossed for you.
I've not used the UBCD myself, but I've heard good things about it from people on this forum and some other people I know.

Do you have important data on there to backup first?
I tried booting from CD with no results
What does this mean? What exactly happened? What messages were on the screen?
Is this Windows XP? Is it a real, shiney disk that says Microsoft all over it, or a restore CD or what?
-
It means I tried booting from the Windows XP disk. And I tried Ultimate Boot Disk but it was weird and would not let me burn the file.
And there are no errors on the screen. Nothing Happened.
I also just did chkdsk to try and repair to to results either.

If your computer won't boot from a genuine Windows XP disk then you are doing something wrong.
I suggest you make sure your cdrom is set in bios as the first boot device.
-
I can run it from the disk but the same problem still occurs.
-
After the third attempt at reinstalling it seems that it is able. I need to let it install and I hope that solves all the problems.
-
Well I got it to install but all my files are broken. Is this normal? Everytime I click on a program it says I need to reinstall because an error has occured.
-
Did you choose to format the drive before starting the install? You should. ;)
