Title: Computer freezes for a brief moment
Post by: ev4n77 on November 03, 2007, 11:10:12 PM
Hello Everyone,

I am new to the forums :) I am having an issue that I cannot seem to work out on my own.

My rig is:

Inspiron 9300
Windows XP Pro SP2
Intel Pentium M 1.70 OC'd @ 2.26
2 GB RAM
GeForce Go 6800

The issue I am having is about every 2 seconds my computer will freeze up for a fraction of a second causing the mouse pointer, sound, video, games, typing, to skip and then resume. Only to skip again in another 2 seconds.

Some solutions I have tried is:
-Upgrading to Vista
-Complete Reformat
-Spy ware/Virus scans
-Ran a system utility program
...and none worked.

Does anyone have any information on what could be causing this?

Thanks

How long have you had the machine?

Ever cleaned the inside?

After following the above advice:
Back off a little on the overclocking...this can always cause funky behaviour.

I've had the machine for 3 years... and I have opened it up a lot for upgrades/cleaning. I tried removing the overclock & try out different ram and the problem persisted.

You're not trying to OC the RAM are you?

Is the PSU good?  Have you tried stripping the system to it's bare essentials to boot, and seeing if the problem still happens?
