When a web page downloads sometimes, it says "Done, but with errors on page", with an exclamation mark next to it, at the bottom of the browser.
What causes this ? I've read about it little but the explanation wasn't very thorough...

As a matter of fact, yes.
Some times it says other things besides, "Done, but with errors on page", but the exclamation mark is always there, regardless of the message.. it happens a lot..
There's a v.90 modem being used in this computer... The downloads speeds aren't that great. I don't think the phone lines in the area support 56k. I haven't confirmed that, but I think that's the case with the speed. I can't get anything over 28.8 kbps... I found a site that that tests whether the phone lines support 56k, but it was a long distance # and I didn't have a way to dial it... This actually is not my computer, I'm just staying here for a little while..

I just put a v.92 modem in it.. Data compression and upload speeds are (according to specification) are better... As far as I can see, v. 92 really is much better, after using it for a little while..
Errors are still there, however... I get errors when visiting computer hope as well... (done, but with errrors on page)

IE6 is almost always going to display a "errors on page" status bar icon simply because the standards have grown far past what IE6 is capable of understanding. think of it this way- it's not <really> an error, but IE6 finds something it doesn't understand, and, as far as it's concerned (being from 2001) it's "wrong", so it's an error.

Local phone lines are always going to be a problem for dial up modems since frequently an analog to digital conversion is involved and that slows down the transfer speeds.
Luckily, I haven't had to deal with a dial up modem for several years, but with a 56k modem I never got more than 45k.

well, I'm using IE8, but using the compatibility icon at the top of the browser seemed to help the error message go away..
I've never paid much attention to the actuall download speeds in dial-up, but I was just watching as Opera downloaded and the speed shot up to 8 KB/sec (approx. 65 Kbps), for a little while, and went back down to about 3 KB/sec (approx. 24 Kbps)..
