Title: Unable to find cookies folder
Post by: Saki-Star95 on September 24, 2008, 05:25:29 PM
Well, first off my computer has been running extremely slow ever since I got the internet re-activated (approximately...10 minutes ago :P) and my mom said I should clean out the cookies. So I went to the start menu where it was on my other computer, but i can't find it anywhere. I searched for it and everything. Where is it and why is my comp going so slow?

Cookies won't slow down your computer.
What exactly do you mean by "slow"? Any program, internet?

If anything is making your web browser slow, it would most likely be the temporary files/cache.

I mean I clicked on the internet explorer and it took about 5 minutes to fully load. And everytime i went to a different site I had to wait another 5 minutes. Also when i watched videos they froze frequently.

I guess I should also mention what happened today. When I logged in, it took about 10 minutes for all my desktop items to load. A window popped up that said "Loading Personal Settings: Microsoft Outlook 6" which has never appeared before. Also, two command prompt boxes opened but they disappeared before I could copy down what they said. Again, this has never happened before.

So, you are having general computer slowness.
What do you mean by having internet reactivated?

Well I first got this computer about 4 years ago from my dad's boss. It was my first computer so at first I just used it for typing and drawing and general games. Then a year later we got internet and cable from Brighthouse Networks. Unfortunately, my father was fired and we had to get the internet turned off 9they took the modem back). So I continues typing and drawing for 2 more years. But now we got it back. It seems to be getting better with each day but whenever the screensaver pops up, the computer freezes for a little while it loads. ???

What are computer specs: processor speed, amount of RAM, hard drive size/free space?
What kind of security tools do you use (antivirus, firewall)?
