Title: Laptop drive has suddenly stopped working
Post by: Seychelles on June 11, 2010, 03:18:20 AM
I own a Toshiba A100, model no. PSAA5A-01H00T, operating suite Windows XP, virus programs Norton Anti-Virus, Trend Micro PC-illin. Have programs disks for all.

Recently the CD drive stopped working suddenly. It won't play CDs, DVDs or PC Games where it worked perfectly before.  I don't know if it is a software or a hardware problem, but would really appreciate some help. It's really frustrating!

Try pressing the drive release button on the side/bottom and re-seat the drive...
Do this with all power off.

Insert a bootable disc, make sure the cd drive is at the top of the boot order in bios, and reboot. Does the system see the drive at boot?
