Title: WINDOWS 98 INSTALL PROBLEM (HELP)

Formatted c: drive used start up disk and when I type SETUP at e: drive it tells me "This program cannot run in DOS mode". tried everything PLEASE HELP!!!!!   :-[ ???

did you format your disk using FORMAT C: /U /S

if not....

try using a W98 install CD instead of a startup disk...!!!

Windows 98 CD should be bootable.

There are a few pirated versions that aren't bootable.  Is your version genuine?

Upgrade CDs aren't  bootable either. and setup.exe is a windows application in those versions, too.

Are you sure E: is your optical drive ? ?
At the E: prompt type in dir /p and hit Enter.....
Spacebar moves the directory down one line at a time.
If it looks like the contents of the Windows CD then try again.

If not it's either not your optical drive or you have more than one...
