i've had this problem for almost a month and a half. half the reason being busy with work and the other half being lazy. anyways a while ago my house was struck by lightining. we have 3 computers in all, all on the same router. two of the computers work perfectly and one (mine) everything works fine except for the internet. i have tried a new router, a new ethernet cable, a new ethernet port, and also system restore. the local area connection has an X on it saying no connection. this is my last resort before i pay circuit city 60 dollars to find the problem. if anyone has any ideas please help me out.
thanks

Is this onboard Ethernet ? ?
Buy a PCI Ethernet card for about $10.00 bucks and install it yourself.
It's as easy as replacing a sound card or modem...
patio. 8-)

i think that is what i tried already. it it had a whole board that plugged into something inside the computer.

Try deleteing and recreating the connection from scratch.
