Your operating system is corrupted... Take it back to the shop and have them fix it, becuase they DID mess it up... You will not have to pay for them to fix it right this time...

You know... You're better off just buying a new computer... I don't see much hope for this one... You would have to install a CD Drive, but there is no OS to install with... Disketts will not work, so the best thing to do is to just buy a new computer... This one had it coming eventually...  :-/

Actually, there was one thing I overlooked... If you can get a hard disk which already has an OS on it, then just plug the hard disk in... However, just buying a new one would be better for the future...

DJ:

You will need a bootable floppy disk and the 13 floppy disks with the Windows 95 setup files.  If you have these floppies, i'd suggest reinstalling Windows 95 in a new folder:

More info. about installing Windows 95:

There are portable CD-ROM drives available.

But you would have to get the drivers for that with a floppy disk...

Additional:

In the past, I have seen several offers where certain people would install Windows 98 on any machine using only floppies. I do not know how this is done, but you may wish to look into it.

I would buy a new machine.  One thing that you have to remember is that unless you already have the software you are going to be using, it is very difficult to get stuff compatible with Win95 commercially.

Really, unless finances prevent it, I would go with a new(er) machine that fits your budget.

Hope this Helps.

I understand that you have a floppy drive, but I have never seen it personally where an external CD drive is installed using floppies...

Was it upgraded to Windows 95 from Windows 3.1?

DJ:

Let us know if you have the Windows 95 installation floppies and one of us will let you know how to go about reinstalling Windows.  You may want to try installing into a different folder or just reformatting the hard drive and doing a clean installation.  There are pros and cons to each option.
