Title: Driver for CD/R internal drive...do I need one?
Post by: gunsmith_tony on December 23, 2009, 12:07:37 PM
I have a Khypermedia KHCRW522452 internal CD writer in an old PC running Windows 98. It still works great.
I have a friend with a PC running Windows XP (SP-2) with a bad CD/R drive.
I would like to replace his bad drive with this one. I know how to install the drive, but problem is I no longer have the driver disk for the Khypermedia drive.
If memory serves, the original disk that came with it was an OEM Nero disk.
I guess my question is really...am I going to need any Windows drivers for installing this drive?
And what issues am I likely to encounter if I don't have them?

Tony

I had one of those, computer is long gone.  No driver disk required for any DVD/CD-R/RW.  You only need the same interface:  IDE (ATA), not SATA.

Thanks. That's kinda what I figured. Just wasn't sure.
