When I try to launch MSI. I receive a failure notice,can I
download a fix or something from microsoft to debug my
MSI software? XP media play

If you got an error message, what is the exact text of the error message?

The message is.
Can't collect information.
Cannot access the windows management instrumentation software.
Windows management files may be moved or missing

Go Start>Run, type in:
services.msc
Click OK.
Look for Windows Management Instrumentation service.
Is it running? Is it set to start automatically?

Yes it is on and set to auto.

Services have "dependencies". Go back to where Broni told you to go to but this time click on Dependencies tab. Does it have any dependencies? Start the services that WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation) requires.

When I selected dependencies I received a error message.
"Service Dependencies"
WMI:intialization Failure

Go to Start /Run and type in sfc /scannow and hit Enter...
Have your XP CD handy as it will ask for it.
After it completes re-boot the machine.

I have a question before I proceed with your directions. The only cd's
I have are the ones I created when I first purchased my Comp. I have
Two... Now my main question is," not never having done this before"
will this reinstall windows? which isn't what I think I want to do. I
feel so helpless with this, Well once before by mistake i used the backup
cd on my old comp. and totally screwed it up.
Now, am I only going to scan for the info that is needed?
Please be patient with me,I do know a little about comp,but I don't claim to
be a pro at it.

This tool only scans for the files that are missing/corrupt. When it finds a file that is missing or corrupt, it will ask for the Windows XP CD-ROM. When you insert the XP CD-ROM, it copies the files to the HDD. This will not reinstall Windows.

Ran Windows File Protection Utility and there were 4 files missing.
the message I received was.
Files that are required for windows to run properly must be copied to
the DLL cache. Insert your windows xp pro cd2 now.
Here is the problem,I was told to use DVD's to make the two system
restore discs, and when I inserted #2 disc I get a message that the
wrong cd was inserted, how to I work around this.
I asked for my backup disc when I purchased my comp. and was
told there was a utility in XP where I would gererate my own backups.
These two dvd's and the restore tool disc are the only one I have.

P.S. I did insert the dvd's into the dvd drive.

I have update;
I wanted to make sure my dvd's infact had data on them, and thru windows explorer
I could view all the files, but when sfc scannow ask for the disc it still cant
reconize it

It will not run from a created Restore DVD...you will need to find someone with an XP SP2 CD.
The version needs to match...Home = Home...Pro = Pro.

I will have to find a copy of the xp-pro disc's, also I went to the site
devil requested that I view and I checked,
1. Event Log
2. Windows Man Inst.
3. Remote (RPC)
and all three were turned on and set to auto. I did read the post where
the Repository Folder was deleted in safe mode and then rebooted.
First..I'am not sure what the repository folder is and where it is located.
repository sounds like a folder that would store all the system info.
Do you guys think that if I deleted this folder in safe mode then reboot
that it might solve the problem, but now that I think about it when I ran
SFC / scannow it said I had files missing, so doing this might not have any
influence on my problem.
