Title: uninstall problems
Post by: dudeman45 on January 23, 2008, 06:40:01 PM
hello, I tried to uninstall MediaMonkey v 3.0.1.1109 from my computer. I thought I removed all remaining pieces but when I try to play a file from my music folder it wont play. I right click on the file it askes" play in MediaMonkey" I thought I got rid of it all. I searched all files containing the words "MediaMonkey" yet still cant find the remains of it. I can still play files from windows media player, just not from when I click on the file from my music directory.(I have to open the music file from windows media player). Im trying really hard to get this so it can be understood.

windows xp service pack2, asus,  sound max, nvidia 8500 gt

Maybe try tools - options in media player, to associate the file types with media player, if not already done. It seems your music files are some how still associated with media monkey. Maybe also try a free registry/system cleaner, that might remove any media monkey registry entries present. One popular cleaner is ccleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/ or a stand alone one like TweakNow RegCleaner Std from http://www.tweaknow.com/RegCleaner.html

Right click on any music file, click Open with, then Choose Default Program, and pick Windows Media Player from the list. Make sure, you put checkmark in "Always open....". Click OK. You should be good to go.

 "windows cannot open this file:

 File: 01- box of rain.mp3

to open this windows needs to know what program created it. windows can go on line to look it up automatically, or you can manually select it from a list of programs on your computer.

what do you want to do?
0 use the web based service to find the appropriate program
0 Select the program from a list.
