Title: wondering if i'm missing anything
Post by: rakisak on October 19, 2008, 07:47:32 PM
Hi and first let me thank you in advance for your help.  Anyways, I'm gonna attempt to build my own pc for the first time which will hopefully turn out well.  All I want is a system that will play the games I want without lag on max settings and that will last for awhile yet has room to upgrade.  Below are a list of items that i put together in hopes that its the best combo and that i can build it when i receive the pieces and i ask you for your advice.  Please tell me if i'm missing anything or if i should get something else and please explain why so that i may learn something new.
also i'm willing to spend around 1100 including a moniter however if i can save loot the happier i'll be.  oh and i shop at newegg

Looks good: I would go with  larger case :[ i like room] try buying the cpu as a oem because what you have listed the cpu comes with a heat sink &  you are buying a seperate cpu cooler.

oh and should i pick up the 9800gtx or go for a 260 version or stay cheap and go with a 8800 and should i find a sli motherboard or i'm good with that.  or should i pick up a new motherboard and get a ati video card

Everybody has their own opinion when it comes to hardware. The 9800 looks like a good card, i use ATI myself . I would not go wit a SLI board. Dont go cheap you want the system to be trouble free as long as possible.
