hi,is there anyway that i can revert back to my old o.s. {vista}..i upgraded to win7 a couple of weeks ago to see what it was like,I have a acer laptop 5735 with windows vista preinstalled and was wondering if i could revert back to vista as im not keen on windows 7..kind regards john... ??? ???
-
If you either upgraded your existing install or replaced it, then the only way to "revert" is to format and install Vista (this will completely erase everything on your hd). If you installed W7 as a dual boot option (which I'm guessing is not the case) you can easily uninstall it.

hi alan, when i bought the laptop i made recovery disks,If i format the pc would the backup disks be ok or will i need to buy a new vista disk?...thanks
-
What sort of recovery discs? If you imaged the hd with an imaging program then that's just fine.
-
hi, when i bought the pc i got a message saying that i need to" backup"pc...i burnt 2 dvd disks, so i take it that they should do the trick...is it easy to format a h/d..im a newbie lol...thanks john.

In other words, it's not booting from the DVD disc, right? You probably need to access your BIOS settings and set CD as the first/initial boot device.

hi soybean,i tried that but it still boots to w7...when i got the pc it was preinstalled with vista,i had no problems then if i wanted to take it back to factory settings, but since i upgraded to w7 i cant do that...i think w7 is in a partition in the c drive...im not sure if by loading w7 over vista that ive lost vista...i burnt 2 dvd backup discs when i bought the pc..thanks john.

I'm not convinced you know how to access your BIOS settings. To remove my doubt, please state exactly how you do that for your model computer.
-
hi,what i did was power down pc,then i powered up whilst holding down the f2 key...is that correct...thanks theted
-
F2 key may be correct for your computer; for some computers, it's another key. So, you got into the CMOS Setup Utility, where you see the BIOS settings. Right? And, what did you do there?
-
hi,when i went into setup utility i went to "boot"..in there it gave me 7 options...1, ideo..2,cd/dvd:hl-dt...3,network boot...4,usb hdd..5,usb fdd....6,usb key...7usb cd/dvd rom....i tried 2 and 7..what i did was highlite option 2 and hit f10 key to save and exit...when do i put the backup disc into the drive...thanks
-
And, after, it's still not booting from CD/DVD?
-
no,goes straight to w7... ???..
-
i think my only option is to reformat the h/d..is there any software i can use to remove the partition and make it one hard drive...thanks theted
-
soybean's advice is correct. You need to watch the screen when it boots and it will say: press ??? to enter bios (or setup). Whatever that key is, that's what you press. Then set the cd / dvd drive as the first boot device in the boot order.
-
hi allan, thats what i did ???..i,ll take it into the repair shop, maybe they will be able to sort it out...thanks anyway guys for all your help....
-
yesssss, finally managed to install win vista...feel a bit of a diddy ::)...when i went to boot from cd/dvd i didn't know that i had to press the f6 key to bring it to the top of the list then hit the f10 to save and exit...what i was doing was highlighting cd/dvd and hitting the f10 to save and exit....thanks for all your help and patience....theted :)

You put in the disk before you exit the BIOS.
