Firefox 2.0.0.1 has been released.
It's a security fix, nothing more.
Download it here (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/).
Read the release notes here (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/2.0.0.1/releasenotes/).
I'm using it, and I've had no problems.
It didn't break any of my 10 or 15 extensions.
Just thought I'd let you all know, even though you probably already know.
-
Thanks for the info, Going to download that now ;D. Firefox is the best.
-
Cool, go for it.
Firefox does indeed rule all.
-
Yes it does indeed. Check this (http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-10442_7-6656808-1.html?tag=fea_txt) out...

Nice one.
Up the Fox!
By the way, if anyone has 2.0.0.1 installed already, have they noticed anything strange?
Mine uses way more RAM than FF2.0, which used less than FF1.5, and feels far slower as well.
Is it just mine?
Or has anyone else noticed it?
-
I don't notice a thing, that's strange (well I have 2gb RAM), but still why would it be slower and use up way more RAM than FF2.0
-
Maybe it would be because of security fixes, but it is strange to see a step backwards.
I have 1Gb of RAM so the RAM usage doesn't bother me, it just feels slower for some reason.
It's probably just me.
-
My theme no longer works! :'(
-
Unlucky.
My theme works just fine.
Most themes and extensions are stated to be compatible with 2.0.*.
Strange that yours doesn't work . . . which theme?
-
Modern Pinball -- Ooh, they just released an update! *installs* works again. (http://e.deviantart.com/emoticons/h/heart.gif)
-
Good for you.
I use the Winestripe theme, the old 1.5 theme but for FF2.0.
I don't like the 2.0 theme.
No one's bothered are they?
-
I haven't tried any themes yet but some look interesting. How are they uninstalled?
-
I found the answer here: http://www.tech-faq.com/firefox-themes.shtml. I just installed Red Cats (blue flavor). I think I'll keep it for awhile.
-
If anyone really cares, my Firefox slowdowns have stopped now.
It's all OK again.
-
I tried it and now something is constantly moving around on my
screen. :-?
-
And what would that something be?
-
And what would that something be?
BwaHaHaHa! You got me. You knew it was my mouse pointer.I can never
trick Calum. :-? ;D
-
To fix that . . . don't move your mouse.
Tricky little things those pointers, they're hard to catch.
Try taking your hand from the mouse, and then . . . POUNCE!
-
I took my hand off the mouse and it ran away... :'( Oh, the cat got it!

and scroll down or search for ClickMe .
Read the description - it is very short.
As with anything of this nature, it is all in the timing of when you apply the joke.
But given the right timing and atmosphere, this one is funny.
Regarding Firefox:
Still running 1.5.0.9 here. As a matter of fact, just upgraded from .8 a day or two ago. Stayed with the 1.5 after I read some stuff that made me feel like waiting.
But as far as .8 to .9 goes, I happened to see:
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=502436
that thread.
It quickly went up to a couple hundred posts. It was mostly about the 2. ver , but some of the comments were about the 1.5 ver too.
After the smoke seemed to settle, I went ahead with letting Firefox update itself from .8 to .9 , and have not experienced any noticeable problems.
How about you all? Anything like that which was mentioned in that thread?
Specifically about 2.0.0.1:
Have you read: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=502593
and:
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=494435
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=504781&sid=d4ef486bf17b31e3a029fd2127d6604b
If you hadn't seen these already, I thought I'd mention them in case you might be interested in following them for a few days.
There are probably more there that might interest you too.
-
Still running 1.5.0.9 here, too. I installed 2.0 on a computer with which I formatted the hard drive and reinstalled Windows for my mother, tested it for awhile, and noticed no problems.
-
Firefox rules! I will never use IE again* No more viruses (knocking on wood!) and my downloads are much faster. Great product~ :D
-
MR Tech local install extension allows you to run themes and extensions that have yet to be updated...
Very Handy.
