okay just to gain some experince with app's, I got a copy of Frets an thought by what I read that it would be easy to install. I read the help files and googled. But I cant get it to install or run.

Install to what??

red hat, the app is a .tar extension not sure if that helps

tar xf frets.tar (or tar zxf frets.tgz or tar zxf frets.tar.gz)
cd frets
Check out the README.

that I will, I'm not near it or have any of the refernces like I should but I can find them online. I did do a google shearch and just found every other linux ver.

(Replace "frets.tar" with the actual name or your tar file.)

perhaps you suceeded, and this is causing your problems?

I used to ruin code all the time, simply by leaving out a close " mark. Talk about your cryptic error messages! :)

Just an example!
There were so many times I'd code and start something with a quote, but forget the end quote, and the system went nuts because the syntax was wrong!
