Title: why won't it read my conection

I  have just upgraded my pc and it's running xp and it's working good but i have no idead why it won't get an internet conection from my cable modem my modem is on  i have re booted it and everything i am using an ethernet cord  hope someone can tell me something i have no clue what to do

Go Start>Run, type in:
cmd
Click OK.
Command Prompt will open.
Type in:
ping www.computerhope.com
Hit Enter.
Copy, and paste results.

Type in:
ipconfig /all
Hit Enter.
Copy, and paste results.

Ok  the first thing  that you told me to do said
pingwww.computerhope is not  recognized as an  internal or ecternal command
operable program or hatch file
then the second
windows ip config
host name..........
primary dns suffix
node type...unkown
ip routing enabled...no
wins proxy enabled....no
conecton specific dns suffix sis900pci fast ethernet adapter
physical adress 0000000000
dhcp enabled.yes
autoconfig enabled.yes
auto config ip adresss (it has numbers other than zero)
subnet mask (numbers)
default gateway.....
and thats all it says but still won't conect i had to type it all out cause im on a dif comp than the one with the problem

ok it says ping request could not find host www.computerhope.com please check the name and try again
and the second part is still the same

Go Start>Run, type in:
devmgmt.msc
Click OK.
Device Manager will open.
Do you see any yellow question/exclamation marks there?

yes but only in multimedia audio controller and video controller

Is your Ethernet card listed there without any errors? Under Network controllers...

under network adapter it says sis 900 based pci fast ethernet adpater

Maybe it's driver got corrupted. Get a fresh one.
Is it original card, which came with your computer. What brand, and model of your computer?

It's a custom built one i couldnt tell you the name of the driver and i have never installed a new driver

how can i download it on my computer when the one i need it on can't get on the internet?

Burn it to CD on other computer. Use flash drive, memory card...
