Title: reformat and performance problems
Post by: theChameleon on August 06, 2009, 11:08:14 AM
my feel is, whenever i reformat the system and install windows, it either runs smoothly afterwards (rare), or have really bad performance (very common). and the computer acting crazy, generally.

i've recently reformatted the computer and have a lot of problems now.

Hardware: P4 3.2GHz, 3GB RAM, ATI 1650 Radeon, 1 X IDE 400GB HDD, 1 X SATA 1TB HDD
OS: Windows XP Home SP3

first problem:
i cant use the account name "Administrator". i checked the "user accounts" section and no such entry exists.

second problem:
the performance after the latest reformat is ridiculous. i cant watch youtube videos on this computer now coz now, it is like a freaking slide show with incredibly low frame rate. i never had this problem before. the frame rate is only bearable if i manually use process explorer to set the priority of the appropriate chrome.exe process to the "Real Time" setting. in addition, the video will freeze at some point in time if i play it using full screen mode.

oh, btw, opening Google Chrome costs 40% of the CPU.

flash animations are freaking slide shows. but i can view them on an even OLDER computer.

how do i solve these problems?

1. have you installed latest version of the flash plugin software?

2.try  Firefox browser (http://mozilla.com/firefox) and see if it's any better

everything's at the latest version.

well, Firefox takes up 50%, and much more time to load.
