Title: cannot proceed reformating

Good day all,
          my hard disk encountered some problem and so i decided to reformat it. But the problem now is that i can't proceed reformating it because it seems that i can't read the disk. is there still anything i can do with this?? or my hard disk is really dead already??

It is most likely dead.

What were the problems you encountered that led you to try a reformat.

Do you have access to another Hard Drive that you can plug in and format. That will tell you for certain if it is the Hard drive or the motherboard it plugs into for sure.

actually the very first prob is that there's a dll missing so it can't boot..im confused that time what to do..so i decided to reformat. but before that i copied its file thru another hard disk..i just connect it..but i wasn't able to get all my files because it will hang..it seems that it can't read the disk. So i decided to proceed in reformating but i really can't continue...i'l just stick at 15% then an error will appear.

How are you trying to format it?
Through a Windows Disc?

If the format just hangs there, it is possible the drive is faulty.
