we have a semi new HP PC m7350n
and it sounds like one of the fans is catching on something
but it only happens whenever something is trying to load.
a couple days ago it was cleaned out,
and dust free
it still makes the sound even when the fans are stopped manually
-
could it be the harddrive?
whenever something is trying to load.
does it make this sound at startup?
-
Yes every time
and sometimes it stops while on
others it just starts out of nowhere
i can only see three fans
but i have no clue whether or not it
could be a fan i can't see making the sound
-
What are the three fans? A CPU fan and two case fans, or what? If you have two case fans, I suggest disconnecting one at a time, or both at the same time, and then start your computer and see whether the noise occurs or not.
-
Yeah
we already checked by stopping the fans
disconnectiong them and so on
and the only other thing i could think of
would be the Harddrive
but it sounds exactly like a fan catching
-
if it makes the sound at startup, simply remove the harddrive and see if the sound continues or not.
-
Alright
and if it is the harddrive
i would need to take it in and get it fixed?
or would it be better just to buy a new one
-
if it is the harddrive its best if you buy a new one, you want to make sure its the same interface though. (SATA or IDE)
-
Yeah thats what i was guessing
thanks for the help
ill reply right away if its the Harddrive
-
We took it apart
and found out
its the fan that is on our video card
and
nowhere we found
online or off
that sells the type we need
so anybody know where the best place
to buy a new videocard would be
and what type for our computer
-
what make/model is your video card?
-
A computer repair shop would be the best place to match up a replacement fan...take the card with you.
I have a MicroCenter nearby and they stock upwards of 40 different makes/models of fans.
