Title: Just wondering about a new computer...
Post by: 1910Chin on June 04, 2006, 04:58:59 PM
I recently have been wanting to buy a new computer, specifically for gaming. I would like a computer which could run Battlefield 2 on high-medium setting or whatever. I recently found a computer which I believe might be good enough to run it. Here are the specs for it, if you like me to post a link to the deal, just ask me.

# Case: Antec Sonata II Piano Black Quiet Mid Tower 450Watt ATX 2.0
View
# Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-M51GM-S2G Motherboard (Socket AM2)
View
# Processors: AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (OEM)(Socket AM2)
# Thermaltake AMD Certified 64/FX/Opteron Heatsink
# Memory: 1 GB (2 pcs 512) DDR2 (533) PC2-4200 Patriot Signature (PSD21G533K)
# Hard Drives: Western Digital Caviar SE 160 GB SATA3G 8MB Cache 7200 RPM (WD1600JS)
# CD/DVD-RW: NEC ND-3550A 16X Dual Layer DVD±RW (OEM) (Black)
# Video Card: EVGA GeForce 7600 GT CO 256MB DDR3/PCI-E/HDTV-Out/DVI-DL
View
# Industry Standard Upgradable
# USB Ports on front of case
# Cable and DSL ready

So, yeah, I would also love to know if this is a good deal. Its going for $1,028 which sounds really good to me, but i might be wrong. So yeah, Thanks everyone....

if you include one more gig of ram, you can run battlefield 2 with its highest quality graphics settings. right now i have 2 gigs of RAM and while running BF2 my RAM useage is at 70% (~20% while not playing BF2).

My specs are:
Athlon 64 3000
1.25gb ram (mixture of DDR400 and DDR333 don't ask)
ATI x1600XT 256mb (a bit better than Nivida 6600GT)

I can run BF2 on  1280x1024 at maximum settings fine.

Suprised?

your RAM must be peaked then, correct?

The game takes 10 minutes to load (and just as long to quit), but once it's in there, it works fine  ;)
Believe me I'm willing to wait than spend money I don't have on more ram.

And I think the original poster is long gone.
