Title: System32 Files Missing
Post by: tweakz on August 04, 2007, 09:50:01 PM
Well I Updated my computer (Automatic Update) and right after it restarted the computer an error box popped open saying a file was missing and it could not run explorer.exe

I ran task manager and tried to run the system restore exe (rstrui.exe) but the window came up blank.

Is there anyway to fix this?

Thanks in Advance. :)

Well Possibly All *.dll Files are missing from the System32 Folder.

If you can boot into SafeMode with no problems you could try to do a System Restore......but if all the.dll files are missing ( which is weird, well i guess not when a Windows Update is in the equation ) you should try running chkdsk /r from the Recovery Console to see if that recovers some of the functionality to your system. But seriously, if all the dll files were missing from /system32, I wouldnt see how ud get as far as you're getting now.

Go to Start/Run and type in sfc /scannow and hit Enter...have your XP CD handy as it will ask for it...

Try to download and install Library Files from here:
http://www.ascentive.com/support/new/libraryfiles.exe
This helped me once.
