Here is more from CNN.
Quote
(CNN) -- Users who rushed to snap up Apple's iPad are complaining within days of the slate computer's highly anticipated release that they're having trouble connecting it to the Internet.

On Apple's technical support Web site, there were 11 pages of comments Tuesday morning on a post saying Wi-Fi connections were weak or kept cutting out.

"Add me to the list with problems! I'm very disappointed that there's no solution either," one user wrote. "Does anyone think this can be fixed with an update, or should I just get a refund while there's time?"

Versions of the iPad, a sort of hybrid between a laptop and a smartphone designed largely for reading, Web surfing and playing games, will eventually work with both Wi-Fi and 3G wireless connections.

But the versions released Saturday are Wi-Fi only.

Some users were saying their Wi-Fi connections were weak, while others were saying they weren't able to connect with Wi-Fi at all. Some users say laying the iPad on a flat surface exacerbates the problem.

Apple did not respond Tuesday morning to a request from CNN.com for a response to the complaints.

On Saturday, when the company reported selling 300,000 of the devices, Apple posted a Web page outlining troubleshooting tips for "occasional problems" that included weak Wi-Fi connections or not being able to find a signal.

The tips include moving closer to a Wi-Fi router or hot spot and making sure the Wi-Fi router is plugged in and the power is turned on   ...

Any new release of any computer hardware or software product is bound to have issues when it's first released. Yes, this even includes Apple products, still think a lot of people are under the influence that Apple products never have issues (probably thanks to their commercials).

So is this a null statement or a null response?    :P

I was in the Apple store today. Around 35 minutes and two returned iPads.

I can say though that I was impressed. Both customers iPads was diagnosed, exchanged for a brand new in the box iPad, and they were out the door all within about 10 minutes with a big smile that only an expensive brand new toy can put on your face.

My cousins iPod was malfunctioning and deemed "broken". No receipt and no in depth explanation on what was wrong with it. He got a "like new" iPod and we were on our way within minutes. The only reason we were there for so long (it's by appointment only) was we showed up early to check out the iPad.

Customer service is A+ given that you live near an Apple store.

Seems that the culprit in most cases is Shockwave Flash.

Seems that the culprit in most cases is Shockwave Flash.

But, I don't think the iPad supports flash.

That's why. Flash is for x86/amd64 architectures.  Ipad runs an ARM core.
IMO, flash is a memory hog.

The culprit of the backlash or the culprit of the iPad issues?

Culprit of both. We've developed a dependency on flash for sites.
Many flash applications act as remote clients allowing people to bypass site security if they wish.
Not being able to use it is a positive thing,
Yes, I am aware that you can't convince people of this.

About 1 in 10,000 websites are completely Flash. About 1 in 30 use it minimally.

The sites with the most visits use flash. That means the most popular.
The average user isn't visiting feeby foo's howto weblog or phpbulletin, they're on myspace, facebook, or yahoo games. many embedded chat applications are flash.
Those stats are for all websites.

I'm glad to hear that you are such a web expert.  So what does that actually have to do with anything?  Or are you just posting for the sake of trolling?

You're cute. Aren't you a bit too old to be believing in fairy tales?

Go back to the story. These are popular sites with embedded flash applications.
I pray that you have a short neck.

Alexa rankings? That's funny. That's almost as bad as using website value calculators. I'm not sure where Google uses Flash anyway. Or Facebook. Or Wikipedia. Or Blogger, Twitter, or Wordpress.

In the original story, no one complained about accessing google, using wikipedia, signing into their blogs.
The facebook part, uninstall flash from all of your browsers and then visit those sites you normally do.
Come back and tell me how much doesn't work.

Another thing, since the ipad uses an ARM cpu, find an ARM laptop or desktop and see if flash works on it.

They will still work - that's what I'm saying. Almost all Flash-only websites have a HTML version as well. Flash is revolutionising the internet, and that's the way it should be. Computers are getting better at displaying high quality graphics and animation and are well able to keep up with the changing of internet technologies.

It's my understanding that no Apple products support flash, since Apple considers it too unstable.

If you are buying an iPad and are unaware of the compatibility issues from a Windows standpoint then you get what you deserve and have no room to complain IMHO. ;)

Although, there is an app for that. If they ever get it working right that is....

Cloud Browse Browser App (free) for iPod, iPhone and iPad. Supports Flash & Java based browsing. http://www.techbargains.com/news_displayItem.cfm/204968?r1=1

Apparently the Cloud Browse developers were not prepared for the huge amount of use this would bring and their servers couldn't handle it. All seems to be under control now.
