Title: Why is there a no 'RUN' with other browser's Download screen?
Post by: Saurabhdua on March 30, 2010, 05:46:36 AM
Hello There! :)

Though Google Chrome is set as a default browser, it do not shows up the 'RUN' option alongside 'SAVE' , when I intend to download any executable file(.exe)? ???

Same is the case with other browsers as well.

I do not wish to save the installer onto Desktop or at other place before installing the new program.

Please help!

it doesn't matter what browser you use it <will> need to download the file. When you select in IE, for example, the "Run" option rather then save as when prompted to download something it still downloads the file before running it.

Probably you didn't get my point! ::)

I do not wish to allocate an "Exclusive" space for installer(.exe or.msi). I will be content with files getting downloaded in the "Temporary Files" folder as Iam almost 'Religious' with using CCleaner after every session!

So why don't the "RUN" button shows up alongside "SAVE" in other Browser's Download window? :-\

Probably The European users will be able to answer it better since they can now make any Browser as default down to its roots!

It's probably not an option in Chrome...
Firefox or IE...

I see your point but I don't see why this is an issue.  If you have to save a download before you can run, just delete the downloaded installation file once the program has been installed. You should be able to find it easily.  Usually, it will either be saved to the desktop or to the Downloads folder.

Soybean! >:(

This was NEVER an issue but a simple "Quest" to explore! :-*

Ofcourse, users of my caliber are pretty much aware where the downloaded files are getting stored & so forth......!!

Again, Why can't RUN be implemented from within other browsers? :P

for firefox, you say save file an then you just have to double-click the item in the download window to run it. the fact that it adds an extra click is redundant since people of "your calibre" never use the Run button anyways. that's for people who <don't> understand where the file is going.

Again, Why can't RUN be implemented from within other browsers? :P

Why should it?

This could actually be a security feature if you think about it....
