Title: Can't Boot Into Linux From Flash Drive or CD
Post by: gary727 on March 01, 2010, 07:41:33 PM
I have windows XP on a computer, and I am trying to also add Linux Mint via a flash drive.  I am able to boot into Linux Mint via the flash drive on other computers, but not this one for some reason.  When I attempt to boot, I get a "can't find kernel" error message.

I also tried booting from a cd copy of gOS linux, but the computer simply flashes a black screen, and then boots into windows.

I can boot from a Windows XP cd from the cd rom, so that doesn't seem to be the issue.  I am also able to boot from the gOS linux cd on another computer.

The computer I am trying to use was recently reloaded due to a virus infection.  Windows XP was reloaded at that time.

I've never had this much trouble with Linux Mint or gOS before,so I'm confused as to what to try next.

Any suggestions?

I appreciate your time.
