2) What is the error message EXACTLY as it appears?
-

And you're SURE there was nothing else written on the screen? If there was, what did it say?
-
it is a really long message i cant remember it all and i cant print screen it.
it also gives options to start windows to the last working state to start windows normally or safe mode, safe mode with cmd prompt and safe mode with networking none of these work.
it says if your computer turned of suddenly it could be the problem but my computer never turned of suddenly.
i have also ran sytem checks. but nothing comes up.
-
What does the first part of the message say?
What does the part right before the "we are sorry. . ." say?
try writing it down. then just type here what you wrote down.
-
"we appologise for any inconvience but windows didn't start succesfully. recent hardware or software might have caused this.
if your computer stopped responding, restarted unexpectedly, or was automatically shutdown to protect your files and folders, choose last known good configuration to revert to the most recent settings that worked.
if a previous startup attempt was interupted due to power failure or because the power or reset button was pressed, or if you arent sure what caused the problem, choose start windows normally.
safe mode
safe mode with networking
safe mode with command prompt
last known good configuration(your recent settings that worked)
start windows normally"
there you go.
-
Okay. i want you to scan your disk for errors. check both little boxes. you'll get a message that says do you want to schedule for next start-up. say yes, then restart the machine. let us know if it finds anything.
-
i have also ran sytem checks. but nothing comes up.
i have done that.
-
okay. can you boot to "last known good configuration" ?
-
read this article, it relates directly to your problem.
http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000750.htm
Also, can you boot into normal windows on that machine?
-
squirell,
i can boot into last good known configuration settings.
and i can boot into normal mode too.
-
yesterday. . .
did you read the article i pointed you to?
-
i did read it. i am booting into safe mode the correct way.
i dont want to re-install its too much hassle isn't there a easier way?
-
yesterday ....Several more questions for you .......
Did this issue start after installing the last 8 or 9 Windows update ?
Are you the Admin for that pc ?
Is your operating system a legal copy or something else ?
dl65 ::)
-
Is this related to the illegal XP installation?

If you don't have a legal copy we cannot help. No doubt it would solve all of your problems as well. PCDoc gave you all of the releveant telephone numbers to call, or you can go to a store.
Good luck.
